How do I prepare for my voice lessons? To make the most out of your voice lessons and ensure a productive session, we recommend the following preparation: Relaxation: It’s best to be as relaxed as possible before your voice lesson. Take a few moments to calm your mind and body, allowing yourself to enter the lesson with a focused and open mindset. Utilize the Breathing Exercises: Please use the breathing exercises that were taught during your very first lesson. Incorporating these exercises into your pre-lesson routine will help improve breath control and enhance your overall vocal technique. Beginner Considerations: If you’re a beginner, we advise against extensive vocal use right before the lesson. Singing without an established proper technique may strain your voice and hinder a productive lesson. Instead, engage in a gentle 10-minute warm-up prior to the class to awaken your voice without overexertion. By following these guidelines, you’ll arrive at your voice lesson in a relaxed state and ready to fully engage in the learning process. Remember, each lesson is an opportunity for growth and improvement, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Will I have homework?During each voice lesson, we will identify one to three key areas for you to focus on during the following week. Consistent practice is crucial to achieve the best results and develop new habits in utilizing your voice effectively. For beginners, it is recommended to practice for at least 15-30 minutes every day, allowing one day for vocal rest. Advanced singers may extend this time to an hour or more, depending on their goals and vocal abilities. Whether you choose to practice continuously or spread your practice sessions throughout the day, it should be based on your vocal health and time availability. Remember, even dedicating 10 minutes to a daily vocal warm-up can make a significant difference. The important thing is to establish a routine and remain consistent in your practice efforts. By committing to regular practice, you will reinforce the techniques learned during your voice lessons and make steady progress toward achieving your vocal goals. Our instructors will provide guidance and support along the way, ensuring that you are on the right track to success.

What is a Center Stage Experience? At our studio, we prioritize fostering well-rounded performers who excel in technical proficiency and captivating live performances. Our Center Stage Experience open group class offers the chance to showcase the songs you've developed throughout the semester, applying lessons learned in private sessions and enhancing your stage presence and confidence. Center Stage Experience consists of two sessions, typically scheduled twice a year – in May and either late November or early December, aligning with the school semester's conclusion. The initial session serves as a dress rehearsal, allowing students to practice in front of peers, fine-tune performances, and bolster self-assurance for the subsequent session. The final session is the live performance, where you can invite guests of your choice to be part of the audience, giving you control over the viewership. Your voice teacher evaluates your readiness based on your vocal progress, guiding the optimal time for participation to ensure the most benefit from these group sessions. A recommended minimum attendance of 10 voice lessons aids in developing the necessary vocal techniques and confidence essential for performing in front of an audience. Please note, that Center Stage Experience is contingent on availability and participant numbers for a collaborative and enriching experience. Priority is granted to Semester Plan enrollees, with remaining spots open to pay-per-class students if available. Given venue and scheduling logistics, the specific date is determined closer to the event and communicated well in advance to facilitate effective organization in a suitable setting.
